What My Operaters Manual say's---------
The oil leval is normal if it is between A & B
Now then I changed oil & filter---Added The amount suggested ( 2 1/2 quarts )----The oil level on dipstick now registers 1/2 way between A & B ( X )
Dipstick «
Low Mark-B --------------------------------------Full Mark-A

So I'm thinkin it would be better to have the oil closer to-A . ( add a bit more oil)
Any thoughts on this apreciated.

Understandable question. If there were room, the instructions would say:
"Just need to get on with your day? Check the oil level after the engine's been off for at least a minute. If it's between Add and Fill, it's OK.
OK not good enough? Have the machine on level ground with engine cold. Bring the oil to but not above the Full line. Never insert the stick without confirming it's seated all the way down.
Drain old oil from a warm engine. Let the last drop come out, then add about a cup of fresh oil to drain (gets more of the dregs out). Check where the drain plug and the oil filter seats to make sure there's not an errant gasket stuck on. Not a bad idea to use a fresh gasket on the plug." ....

Could the 2 1/2 been for engine change only without filter? Also could you have used a larger capacity filter than was OEM? ....

Well KT---got out my operators manual once again to check with/without filter Which I never saw the first time. And no I do not see a mention of that.
However I did replace the oil filter with the same size as the one I took out which is larger than the OEM. Not sure if that could be the reason the dipstick does not read full---could be though.
As of yet I have not added any more oil---But I do think the oil level should be at full on the dipstick for working on hills, etc.
THANKS ....

Your thinking might be faulty but I agree with you there. ....

It Should be up to the A mark on the dipstick Not over it at all. When its at the B mark on the dipstick its a quart low. That way you always have a quart give or take to play with for hill and such.. Manuals are difficult to understand sometimes and they don't completely explain it like your understanding it. Remember its been translated from japp. I always top off to the A on the dipstick. It just gives you that much more oil for your engine..
Hope this helps.

Mike you have made a very good point bout translation from Jap.
When I bought this excavator ( used ) the fill level was at the 'A' mark (full ). Rite now the dipstick reads another 16 OZ. could be added----so today I will slowly add a bit more & keep a eye on the dipstick.
THANKS ....

(11:40 now )
OK---just added 16 OZ. more to the crankcase---That brought the level on the dipstick to just a bit below 'A' (full).
I FEEL BETTER NOW :)
THANKS Everyone ;-) ....
